Boot Camp: Small Group Personal Training

Thursdays at 5:30-6:30pm

Starts September 4th

 

*Work your core, perform  strength training and stretch- all in one effective hour

It has never been so much fun to workout in this fun and friendly group atmosphere.  We will use a variety of props to challenge your body: stability balls, balance disks, weights, bands, foam rollers and more.  The instructor will help you to personalize exercises to your ability and your level of challenge.  Join the fun, feel fit and good about yourself!

 

Cost: $52.00

 

Note:  Instructor's permission needed to join this class.

Pilates (Beginners)

Wednesdays at 5:30-6:30pm

Cost: $ 52.00

 

Note: If you are taking this class for the first time you will need instructor's permission to join this class.  In order to be safe and get the most benefit from Pilates you will need to  schedule a private lesson to learn Pilates basic principles (breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement and stabilization, head and cervical placement).  After your private lesson the instructor will help you to decide, if you are ready to join the class or, if it is best for you to continue with private lessons.  Cost for one hour private lesson $40.

Healing Hands Dance Class (All levels)

Mondays at 5:30-6:30pm

Starts September 1st

 

 As we dance, fill your heart with beautifully textured music and sacred sounds.   This class will help you to discover and nurture the healing energy of our hands.  Also, by developing more sensitivity in your hands, you will learn how to free up the upper body and gain freedom in your arms.  This is a transformational and healing class, yet it is also a very good body centered workout.

 

Cost: $ 65.00

Workshop

Posture Power for Men and Women

 

Sunday, September 28th, 10 - 12  at Lloyd Athletic Club (815 NE Halsey)

Saturday, October 11th, 10 - 12 at Body Motion Studio in St. Helens

 

Many people cause their own back and body pain through their everyday bad postural and movement habits.

 

In this workshop you will learn that healthy posture comes from a new relationship with ourselves and the world we live in and not by training our muscles into an ideal shape.  We will explore our six posture zones and the way you relate to them in order to discover physical postural traits and the self expression that underlies the way you sit, stand and move.

 

We will also discuss stretches and exercises that help you correct your posture.

 

Learn new posture awareness skills that will enable you to gain more energy, enhance your sexuality, prevent sports and daily living injury, develop your physical power and grace!

 

 

 Cost: $ 35.00

Trigger Point Therapy & Myofascial Release Workshop

Restore function and relieve tension in your neck, shoulders, upper, middle and lower back, hips, knees and feet.

Cost for Trigger Point Therapy: $ 35 (includes a booklet and three small balls).

Cost for Myofascial Release: $ 30 (includes a booklet),   $ 65,  if you need a foam roller.  Please bring a foam roller with you to the workshop. 

Cost for both Workshops: $55 or $85, if you need a foam roller.

75%-85% of the time the cause of any muscular pain is associated with trigger points in the myofascial sheath yet it is very simple to identify and release these trigger points.  Sometimes you don’t know that you have trigger points until you actually touch them.  These hidden trigger points are just waiting to create mischief in your later years, while you’re under stress, tired or performing strenuous movements.

Self-massage workshop will teach you a highly effective myofascial release technique that helps restore full function to the body by breaking up adhesions, improving blood circulation, and allowing the tissues to glide over each other more easily.  You'll feel the effectiveness and results from the very first time you learn how to use this technique.  From athletes to seniors will benefit from myofascial release workshop.  You will receive a booklet so you can easily incorporate it into your life.  Note: For Myofascial Release Technique you should be able to bear weight on your arms and upper body.

 

"Michael, age fifty-three, was an example of how bad a back problem can get, and yet how simple the solution can be.  He suffered from constant pain in his low back and left hip, along with numbness in his left leg and foot.  He'd been told he had sciatica and was sure the disks in his back were going bad.  Periodic flare-ups were so intense he could hardly get out of bed.  Extremely tender trigger points were found in all the muscles in Michael's buttocks and thighs and in the spinal muscles of his back.  Most of Michael's' back pain and leg numbness disappeared with trigger point therapy.  He has maintained and extended the improvement with self-treatment and hasn't had a flare -up in nearly a year."  (Clair Davies, The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook.)

Participate in St. Helens Health Fair on Saturday, October 4th

 

On October 4th the City of St. Helens will host for the first time an annual St. Helens Health Fair in promoting alternative ways to stay and feel healthy.  Body Motion Studio will have a booth and Violeta will host a 45 minute "energize segment" at 10:30am. 

 

Dear Students,

We need 3 volunteers to join me on the stage to perform and demonstrate yoga, Pilates and Chi-Gong and to encourage the audience to participate.  In return, you will receive 3 free yoga or Chi-Gong classes. Please RSVP so we can schedule a time to meet for one hour at the end of September and rehearse our demo.

 

I also would like all of you to come to my booth to visit and encourage the visitors to try our classes.  The Fair will begin at 10am and end at 4pm. I would love to see you all.  Make sure you stop by to say hi.
